The study published via JAMA Network Open concluded that former NFL players died at a rate almost 1.3 times higher than their MLB counterparts. And while chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) has become a growing concern among current and retired players in recent years, the study found retired NFL veterans were three times more likely than MLB players to die from neurodegenerative disease.
