Former NBA pair Barbosa and Varejao starred in Brazil’s 84-49 rout of Colombia Thursday.
Barbosa, who spent time with the Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors, Boston Celtics, Indiana Pacers and the Toronto Raptors, top-scored with 18 points as Brazil stayed perfect.
Varejao – part of Golden State’s team last season – had 14 points and 13 rebounds in the Americas Group B clash.
Elsewhere in that group, Venezuela defeated Chile 77-55.
In Group D, Canada were too good for Virgin Islands 118-89, undefeated leaders Dominican Republic topped Bahamas 96-63.
In Group B of Asian qualifying, Australia made it three wins from three thanks to an 84-68 victory over Philippines, Mitchell Creek top-scoring with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
The other match in that pool saw Chinese Taipei get off the mark with a narrow 70-69 success over Japan while in Group D, Iran overcame Kazakhstan 75-54 and Qatar defeated Iraq 77-66.
